“I basically told them to go fuck themselves and watch me.”
In high school my counselor pulled me aside, she had spoken to all her students, asking where do you want to go to college, where do you see yourself. That kind of conversation. I said that I wanted to go to college and do something creative, kind of film related, something along those lines. She said, well frankly you’ll never amount to anything in your life, you’ll never get anywhere, you’re a failure, you’ll just have to except the fact that the greatest achievement you’ll ever have in life is maybe working at McDonald’s and if by some fluke of a chance that you happen to slip through the cracks and maybe got accepted into college you’re going to get an academic dismissal and be asked to leave after one semester. So frankly, I just would assume that you shouldn’t even bother trying.
Following that up I ended up getting into college and I ended up graduating college with a 3.0 GPA. A part b to that is I had another professor in college who taught women’s studies and was a doctorate in psychology and had a practice outside, told me the exact same thing.
I basically told them to go fuck themselves and watch me. “Who are you to tell me what I can and cannot accomplish. Who are you to belittle someone like that and destroy their lives”? How many lives have they destroyed in the process. My mom and I just told them to go fuck themselves.
Now I have an MFA in photography and I work as a production coordinator in visual effects. I started working in television.
When I was little I had a doll. I don’t have much to tell you.
