“Creating the beautiful moments that last a lifetime”
A music teacher of mine once said the world loves a colorful character.
Up until that point I was kind of your typical introverted kid. I wasn’t popular. The first time I got a pair of glasses in high school someone said now you really look like a nerd. Making friends did not come easily to me and I was accustomed to being closed and more into my books.
When it came to casual day I always dreaded it because I really didn’t care or think about fashion much. When I moved to Toronto it was a different high school environment, it was more relaxed and and when the music teacher told me that, something clicked. It was freeing.
The world may not love a colorful character but I’m a lot happier being as colorful as I want to be regardless of what other people think. It is the difference between being shy and reserved because you are afraid of what other people are going to say, laugh at you, pick on you, versus the freedom to experiment and not to be ashamed of making mistakes or trying things and creating the beautiful moments that last a lifetime.
When I was little I had lots of stuffed animals. I slept with dozens of them in my bed. The one that really stands out the most was the one I had when I was 10 years old in Germany. I had a giant blue mouse that I called Micky. It was bigger than I was. When I would go on a plane, little me, with this giant mouse would go to the stewardess and say, “excuse me, could you find a place for my mouse please”. It was my friend, a comfort, a source of happiness.
