“No matter if you’re different, you should always be kind to somebody”
I’m a foster child. I live with a hispanic family and I would say I’m of Caucasian descent. When I lived with my family they were all darker skin than me and of course have a different culture. Their last name was Garcia my last name was not.
I remember when I went to junior high and I would go with the other kids people would think that’s really weird. You’re with a family that doesn’t look like you at all. It was a mostly Hispanic town so they liked to make fun of me. I remember they would call me weta which is white skin. They were all a little mean but I remember it made me think, you know, no matter if you’re different, you should always be kind to somebody, so when I got into high school and I was among a lot of other variety of people. I was just friends with everybody, everybody I could think of. I remember what it was like being ostracize for just being the way I looked. I never judge a person by the way they look, by the way they talk because I feel you should always be kind.
Do you member Beanie Babies? I had one from my friend. I’m Australian born. I lived in Australia and I had a friend, we collected Beanie Babies together. And It was an Amazon macaw His name was Jabbers. Unfortunately I moved away from my dad to come here to America. My mom wasn’t very suitable which is why I went to a foster home. I lost Jabbers but a friend of mine, for my birthday gave me the exact same one. So I have been collecting the exact same little, it’s just a colorful bird. So that means a lot to me. Whenever I need something to hold onto I just go “it’s my little bird”.
