“These experiences and meeting these new people has really helped”

I started cosplaying when I was in high school in my senior year. That was around 2011. Most the people I know, my family, my friend were generally not particularly supported. They didn’t out right put me down or judge me for it they just didn’t like the fact, especially my mom. She didn’t like the fact that I went to conventions and that I go to gatherings, travel and stay out for days at a time. I don’t do much at home. I’m not doing anything bad. I’m spending my money wisely and I’m having fun. But she still doesn’t like the fact that I go out. She thinks it’s a waste of money.

I enjoy it because it has inspired me because I have made so many new friend. I’ve gotten to experience new things. I actually started dating because of cosplay. It has also helped me get a job and get work experience. I obviously feel like without cosplay I wouldn’t have been able to grow as a person. It really helps my self-esteem. I honestly thought I was such an awful person, so ugly. I always constantly put myself down when I was much younger. These experiences and meeting these new people has really helped.

I have a stuffed dog that I have named Dug from UP. It’s super cute . I bought a cat plushy, has a theme of a bee. It brings comfort. I know it’s kind of childish I know but it’s kind of innocent. I like to hug them when I sleep. It helps me bond when ever I have friends over, “you want to see my stuffed animals I have on my bed?”
