“To find good men in our lives, to make the good choices”
I grew up with the stepfather. He was really abusive. He would abuse my family, my mom especially. He pushed my sisters and I in just being alone. We didn’t have very many friends. It was just the three of us. We did find comfort in that. My mom never had the courage to leave him until my sisters and I put our foot down, we were like, “you know what, it’s either us or him”. And this wasn’t just a small amount of time. She took years, 14, 15 years to make this decision. Once she made this decision it was just a weight lifted off our shoulders because it was such a negative energy. He was such a bad man. It kind of makes me want to cry. He was just a bad man. We are so glad that he is out of our lives. Now as women, my sister and I are women now, we look back to that and we pray to God every day to not have something like that ever come up in our lives, to find good men in our lives, to make the good choices. My mom has learned along the way that she can value herself as a woman.
i’m dressed as Poison Ivy, a DC character. She’s part of nature. She’s really connected to it and uses it as a force. She gets her strength from it. She’s a very different character. Everybody likes to play the modern characters, like the Joker or Harley Quinn . She’s something that people forget. Nature is all around us. It’s our part to embrace it.
I had a little hamster, he was a real one. His name was Diego. And he died unfortunately. He was an outlet for me. We would all sit together and pet him, let him run around in his little ball. He was really really important to me. My boyfriend just bought me a stuffed hamster that looks exactly like him. It warms my heart every time I see it.
