I focused on what really mattered

I focused on what really mattered and it paid off. he is holding Wilson the bear named after Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, made by Nina R Salerno.

“I focused on what really mattered”

Starting in elementary I went to a school called Cowan Avenue which is in Westchester. I commuted from home which is in Compton, California. The commute was fine. It was longer than most my other friends that lived in the area of Westchester and I always used to get ridiculed about where I lived and the area I was from and teachers would find it confusing how I would excel in school. They thought where I lived was dangerous and a lot of distractions that could lead to everything. I was just a real sane person who got good grades in elementary school but still get ridiculed by my friends because they knew that area was poor, poverty and thought I was of that too.

It really inspired me to excel even more than my counterparts and friends. It gave me more motivation each day to eventually strive out of that area of poverty and live in a better and safer area by just focusing on my education more.

It ultimately paid off for me. Right now I’m in college at Loyola Marymount University which is in Westchester as well. I move from Compton to Culver City

In spite of what area I lived in I don’t think it was right for kids to make fun of me because I was just as regular as them. I feel I should’ve gotten treated as such. At the end of the day I focused on what really mattered and it paid of for me.

When I was little I had a stuffed animal it was a monkey that I got from the LA Zoo. It was a souvenir item.
