Once I get over my own fear and get out of my own head I can do absolutely anything.

“Once I get over my own fear and get out of my own head I can do absolutely anything”

I’m here in California for a business trip. Out of 20 people I got a promotion. I am the only female. I’m the only black female. It kind of inspired me though, because I’m in IT and there is really not a lot of women in IT and even less, black women in IT. I look at my position, my chance, as an opportunity right now. I have two younger girls so this is my way of showing them that girls can do anything. When I grew up, I’m the only girl, firstborn, my mom would alway say no you can’t do it because you’re a girl.

This has just let me know that I can do absolutely anything. Three weeks ago I moved from Atlanta to New York by myself. Two weeks after that I got a promotion with my job and now I’m in California.

So it just lets me know every day that I am my biggest obstacle and once I get over my own fear and get out of my own head I can do absolutely anything.

I used to have a teddy bear, no name for it. I just had it on my bed. I grew up in Saudi Arabia and it was a little bit sheltered there so it was my comfort, my friend.
