“Build on your strengths, work on your weaknesses”
My aunt dying was a turning point in my life. My aunt had gotten really sick with breast cancer and when she passed I was finding it really hard to get back into working out and being healthy. I was just really depressed. Then I found yoga. I decided that I wanted to do teaching so I did all my training. I audition, I didn’t make it, but I loved yoga. It took me a week or two to get back but I was embarrassed. I didn’t know if the other teachers didn’t like me or something. But they have this really awesome thing that they like to say, build on your strengths, work on your weaknesses. And I actually went back and did another round of teacher training and they had things that they wanted me to work on, things that I may not have thought to look at myself in terms of how I approach people, my tone. I made my teacher tryouts so I taught for a little bit and then I actually got my dream job at one of the fashion labels that I love. One of the things that they said about me was that they loved my positivity and I always looked good to great. It actually really helped me.
My favorite stuffed animal when I was little was a dinosaur. It was a pillow. I was so devastated when my mom threw it away. It was comforting. The spikes on its back were made out of purple silk and I loved how it felt on my hands. I wouldn’t go anywhere without it.
