“I’m starting from ground zero”
I’m Latino, my parents are Latino and they were very strict. I was not allowed to do anything. I was not happy. Recently I decided to get away from them, to build my own life. My parents don’t talk to me anymore because I left. Now I’m here with my girlfriend. I wasn’t allowed to have a girlfriend before. And now I’m free to do what I want. I feel a lot happier.
It’s rough because I’m on my own, it’s tough economically. I’m starting from ground zero. I do go to school, thanks to the government.
When I was little I had a teddy bear. It was my buddy, it was always with me, in my room. It is in Columbia.
