This inspired me to pursue my dreams

This inspired me to pursue my dreams. She is holding Wilson the bear named after Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, made by Nina R Salerno. She shared her story about adversity, about being different and how she transformed this to a celebration of difference.

“This inspired me to pursue my dreams”

My dad passed away when I was 10. That definitely affected my life growing up, especially as a black woman and not being able to have, like, my two parents to really build a life and a structure for me. Living my life with my mom as a single parent, being a diverse ethnicity in the world, and just overcoming those struggles and trying to become the best person I could be.

This inspired me to pursue my dreams and actually get to a platform where I could speak positively about the black community and the things that I have been through, for single parents and the things that they have to go through as well.

When I was little I had a stuffed animal and her name was Diamond. I loved her and I took her absolutely everywhere. She was amazing. She was like my daughter. Seeing my mom take care of us, being able to take care of another creature even though it wasn’t an alive creature, be able to feed it, change it and cloth it and give her different ideas, being able to take it out with you in life just was exciting for me.
