“It really makes you who you are in the future”
I was the only Asian girl in my elementary school, everyone else was either Hispanic, African American or white so I had no friends. It was really hard for me to make friends so all throughout elementary and middle school I was bullied a lot and I had to take that home with me. Sometimes I would go home crying and I would tell my sister about it. Even though bullying is hard at the moment it really makes you who you are in the future. It makes you a stronger person.
I am an afterschool teacher and I try to teach my kids how bullying can hurt others. I teach them that bullying changes people’s life drastically either for the better or mostly for the worse. I teach them how to approach bullying when it happens to them and what to do when they witness it happening.
I have a bear named Kaboo. I got him from the San Diego Zoo.I really loved him when I first got him. He was very soft, the perfect size. I’ve had him for six years. Even though he’s very worn down, he’s no longer white, or super fluffy, I still love him as my bear. I sleep with him every single night. My mom says, “why don’t you throw that thing away, it is so old, and gross”. “It’s not appropriate for you anymore, you’re 24 years old”. I say mom, “I can do what I want”. It makes me feel loved, it makes me feel comfortable at night. I love my bear to pieces.
