“That really shaped me to not care what everyone thinks about me.”
My story is me finding out my identity because I am half white and half black.
And me going to school, you know I was too black for the white girls and I was too white for the black girls. Then I would kind of get confused on what I was and they would judge me on my hair. I don’t want to play with you because you have curly hair or whatever it was. I think that really shaped me to not care what everyone thinks about me, just being an individual and being happy with who I am regardless of what anyone thinks, comments on me.
When I was little I had a doll. Her name was Nikki. I took her everywhere. She had a stroller and I would take her into the mall with me and I would shop with her. I actually used to have my mom make her clothes. She had a pet. His name was Yoyo. He was a little furry white dog because I had a real furry white dog. She was my best friend. I took care of her. I always would look behind my back and make sure she was there and OK and that I didn’t lose her. I had to make sure she had nice clothes and she was having fun. I was always playing with her and not leaving her lonely.
