She said don’t look like everybody else, be different.

She said don't look like everybody else, be different.

“She said don’t look like everybody else, be different.”

When I was 14 going to the eighth-grade dance everybody was wearing pink so I told my mama that I have to get a pink dress. We went to the mall. I see this sky blue with white polka-dot strapless dress. I said that’s the dress. I want to try that dress on and she said I thought you had to wear pink. I said no, we don’t have to wear pink that’s just what everybody else is wearing. So I went in there and tried it on and we bought it. It was an $80 dollar dress, I was 14.

She said don’t look like everybody else, be different. Don’t wear what everybody else wears. You wear what you like because you’re not going to stand out. That was it so ever since then, and I do wear weird stuff sometimes. Sometimes I’m looking really crazy but I’m OK with that. Now I am.

I do have a stuffed animal it is cute it was given to me for a very very personal which I don’t want to say. I want to keep that private. And another one was given to me as a birthday gift. So those are my two children. The little puppy has a very significant meaning when I was really going through something. No matter what I always keep that one.

When I was little I had a stuffed Raggedy Ann doll that was awesome. She was just cute. It was a black Raggedy Ann doll. That’s what I liked about her. I remember she hurt herself and I put some medicine on her head and it left a big old stain. I took my doll very seriously. It was a big ass doll and it just fascinated me. And I took the doll wherever I went. I still have her she’s at my mama’s house. I’ve had that doll ever since I was seven. I went into the store and picked her out. I moved a lot when I came here and I didn’t want her to get lost I would’ve been pissed.
