“Sometimes you just have to keep swimming”

I left Australia about seven weeks ago to head to Peru then eventually come across to America to go to a Ranger Congress because I am a park ranger. The day when I left Queensland I didn’t know if I would have a home to go back to. I do now. I found out that I got a full-time job, which I wasn’t sure was going to happen because I was being contracted. And with that job I was able to secure a house to live in. I left Australia not knowing and it puts you in a very vulnerable position but you have to put yourself at the mercy of the universe.Sometimes you just have to keep swimming, I think, you know. And when you have no idea what is going to happen to you and what the world’s going to give you or take from you, which sometimes it does, you just have to go with the flow.

All I have is what’s in my car. What I do have, is a pillow that my sister gave me. It’s like a cushion from a couch and it has “Love” written on it. When I went home to visit she gave me this cushion. She said put this on your bed. I’ve got these two nephews and they are like toddlers, and she said Thomas and Rowan they’ve cuddled the pillow and they filled it all with love and whenever you get lonely…because I’m on my own, I don’t know anybody. I’m completely alone up there. She said whenever you get lonely or you need love hug the pillow. It’s full of love. And I do all the time.
