“I realized that there are kids that never have been out of the city”
I was raised by a bio-conservationist, she had her PhD in conservation and did her dissertation on whales. I was an only child.
It wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized how different I was by being raised by her. For me it was just natural, that all kids would have been raised hiking in the wilderness, knowing the names of plants and animals and how to track animals.
That was the norm and it wasn’t until I grew up that I realized that there are kids that never have been out of the city, and some people are scared of being outdoors.
That was a happy thing from my childhood and I took it for granted until I realize that I was very different when I got older.
I have my favorite penguin my mom gave me when I was a kid and I chewed it’s beak off. She had to sew it in three places to keep it on. I called it Penguy and loved him because I love of animals.
