Life is hard….for everyone, at least for the ones who admit it. Whitney Cummings recently was interviewed by Tim Ferriss on his podcast show, The Tim Ferriss Show “Whitney Cummings on Turning Pain Into Creativity”.
Whitney Cummings is a Los Angeles-based comedian, actor, writer and producer. You may know of her through such shows as, (CBS) 2 Broke Girls, (NBC) Whitney and her stand up specials with HBO.
Ferriss like usual, asks probing and insightful questions and Cummings answers them with honesty. She’s quick to reveal what is in her bag of tricks which keeps her healthy, sane and productive. What takes most people decades of trial and error to figure out, Whitney started to learn at a young age of 27. It is always of interest to me to demystify and deconstruct the lives of the successful and the famous to learn bout their strategies and methods.
Whitney talks about codependency, perfectionism and low self esteem, and how she overcame them using trauma therapy, equine therapy and TM (Transcendental Meditation®) just to mention a few. Cummings says creating balance in her life creates productivity and allows vulnerability, which is her recipe for her brilliant creativity. The two hour and thirty four minute interview is well worth your time.
“In order for art to imitate life, you have to have a life.”
– Whitney Cummings
“I promise: if you just tell the truth and get your heart broken as a comedian, you will have a house.”
– Whitney Cummings
